202302 LED light strip classification 2: BY COLOUR

christmas lights outdoor led  includes colour temperature criterion, hue criterion, and variation criterion.

Colour temperature criterion

LED colours are generally called correlated colour temperature. It is made from blue light emitting chips, produced by different proportions of phosphor.

<2000K: red and yellow, like sunset colour.

2200-2700K: golden yellow, Golden yellow, orangey-orange in colour temperature

2800-3500K, mostly 3000K, known as warm light (also called as warm white light)

3500-4200K: mostly 4000K, is called natural light. (Some people also call it warm white light) 4500-5500K: aka white light, suitable for office use and reading etc.

However there is not much choice of lamp beads in this colour temperature range.

5800-6800K: cool white light, aka white light, is in this colour temperature range, with a benchmark of 6500K.

7000-8000K: cooler than 6500K with bluish in feel, is not generally needed for domestic use. However, some special scenes, such as jewelry lights, may require it.

>9000K: already in blue to purple category. UV section leads to UVA and UVB which belong to special use scenarios, such as aquarium, mosquito trapping, UV killing and so on.

Hue criterion

General sense of colour light, emitted by LED chips that emit this colour directly. Commonly used such colours are: red, yellow (not warm white kind of yellow), blue, green, purple, ice blue, pink, amber, etc.

Variation criterion

i.e. christmas lights outdoor led  that glow multi-colour simultaneously .

RGB: what we normally call as Rainbow stripe.

RGBW: RGB+colour from another  temperature criterion. For example, RGB+3000K or RMB+6500K and so on.

RMBWW: RGB+colours from another two temperature criterions. For example, RGB+3000K+6500K

By the way, when 3000K and 6500K colour temperature colours glow simultaneously, by mixing the light, 4000K temperature colour emerges!

202302 christmas lights outdoor led  classification 3: BY WAY OF CONTROL

Most common one is On/Off mode. ‘On’ when power connected, ‘Off’ when disconnected. It works for both single and double colour temperature.

Apart from single/double colour temperature On/Off control, there are other ways of controlling brightness and colour as by thyristor, SCR, 0/1-10V, DALI, bluetooth, zigbee, 2.4G etc.

RGB rainbow stripe: i.e. RGB rainbow colour control.  Four-wire RGB strips are used as a whole part to make a seven-colour effect, with simultaneous slow changing, fast changing, jumping and other light effects, by means of a preset controller.

RGB colour DPI tandem connection signal control: With three-wire strips, all with traceable IC, effect of horse racing, chasing and fading can be realized. They can be set and controlled via the DPI controller.

DMX512 signal control: Use DMZX512 protocol to do traceable control of light strips. Typically with five-wire strips:  two-wire for power supply, three-wire for control.

Motion activated: Motion active through infra-red or radar detector. Light is trigged by human movement and lasts for 40-50 seconds. If movement continuous then light on time is added. , light is off  when no movement is detected for 40-50s. This is a very practical function. Both energy saving and intelligent. It is also friendly to disabled.

Hand motion activated: a sweep of hand within 5cm from the light stripe can trigger the switch. This is often used for cabinet lights. Its most practical when you have a pan and a spatula in each hand.

Article motion activated: Similar to hand motion activated sensor, the sensor head detects if there is an article within certain distance (for example 3-5cm). If there is, light goes on. If there is none, light goes off. This is widely used in wardrobes, cupboards, or other places with doors. Light goes on when  door opens and off when door closes. This smart and energy saving, you will surely love it.

202302 christmas lights outdoor led  classification 4: BY MATERIAL AND SHAPE

This classification may be a bit repetitive, so I won’t expand on it too much. It contains some special forms of light strips.

S-shaped bare-board strips: which can be moderately bent in the horizontal direction because the substrate is S-shaped mounted.

Rigid strips: The strips are mounted on aluminium profiles and can be used on shelves, wardrobes, flooring, ceiling lines, etc.

Single-sided illuminate: Generally speaking, all light strips are single-sided, with two directions of illumination: frontal illuminate, and side illuminate. The main difference lies in the structure of the silicone sleeve.

Double-sided illuminate: In some special applications, the substrate has beads on both top and bottom, so that double-sided illumination can be realized.

360° illumination: a 360° full illumination strip can be created with a round silicone sleeve and a top and bottom illumination strip.
